massive fires destroying our ecosystem

The last extinction period that our planet faced was 65 million years ago. Before that, there were five mass extinctions including one of the dinosaurs. As history tells us there was a prodigious asteroid impact on earth which wiped out all signs of life including the dinosaurs. This might sound unrealistic but we humans are the next ones to become extinct. You didn’t believe it right? And if you did believe it you’re probably wondering who and what is causing it? Guess what. WE ARE. We are causing ourselves to be extinct. We are the ones killing ourselves and we are the ones who are destroying the only livable planet in the entire galaxy. Let me explain how.

There are a few main factors that are leading to this one of the main is

CLIMATE CHANGE

We will talk about this in a second

The other ones are :

l Volcanic activity

l Overpopulation

l Biodiversity dying

l Fishless oceans

And many more

Let’s start with the biggest and main reason for the sixth extinction in motion and that is

CLIMATE CHANGE:

I honestly don’t think I need to explain what climate change is but in case you didn’t know it is when the earth’s atmospheric temperature increases more than it should and that is what is happening right now. Climate change I think is the main contributor to most of the problems of earth related to the environment such as

Sea snot

Loss of animal or plant species to climate change causes global ‘extinction domino effect.

The increasing temperatures and the loss of habitat of animals are leading to loss of biodiversity which will eventually lead to the wipe of humans.

Because of the mass cutting of the Amazon forest, it is estimated that by 2040 there will be no amazon forest. Amazon is a huge supplier of oxygen for humans and if there will be no Amazon then you can imagine what calamity will fall upon us. In 2020 11,088 square kilometers of the Brazilian Amazon were destroyed. It has increased to 10,129 square kilometers a year. This is the highest deforestation rate since 2008. If this keeps up our main source of oxygen which is amazon will be destroyed.

Loss of biodiversity

The way humans are living in this era is sending biodiversity into decline. This is happening due to bad planning and human error and it will lead to what happened in Chernobyl. “ A Place where we cannot live” as David Attenborough says.
